Hey guys ..I had a quick request for a list of Hrishikesh Mukherjee films
that people have seen. I know a few such as Anand, Gol Maal etc. etc.
I would very much appreciate a chronological filmography if anyone can
recall some of his movies.

Hi Paindu,
You are right about Amitabh and Hrishi da. In a recorded interview
given to DD which i have when Amitabh is accussed of confining himself to
MKD and PM camps he retorts that the director with whom he has worked
in the maximum number of films is Hrishi da. In an interview given to FF Hrishi
da
recounts the days when Amitabh whom he playfully called Pintu was climbing
]the ladder of success. Amitabh, Jaya and Dharmendra have time and again
demonstrated in public the respect and admiration they have for Hrishi da.
Perhaps i shall include some anecdotes in one of the "Chhoti Chhoti Baatein"
posts. Glad to see Hrishi da being discussed on RAMLI (at the time
when "Yes Boss" has been released)

Hi Ikram,
Khandhar was directed by Mrinal Sen. It featured Shabana and Naseer. I
recollect Geeta Sen too acted in the film as Shabana's mother.

Earlier, this movie was rumoured to have Aamir Khan in it.
I think some years back, being very disturbed by the events in Bombay
he wanted to make a movie on the riots. Instead, gladly gave the
Nargis Dutt award for national integration to Mani Ratnam for the
Tamil film "Bombay" in 1995 when he was the head of the jury of the
43rd National awards.

Is the omission of his directorial debut "Holi"
is an oversight? or is it not worth being
included ;-) I thought it was quite an interesting
film, one of the few films that dealt with the
frustrating aspect of student life, not being able
to pin much hope on future.

Yes, 'Holi' was a good film and that along with 'Mirch Masala'
had people comparing KM to Shyam B. However, he turned out to
be extremely overrated. Watch what a mess he made of Flaubert's
wonderful book (besides totally wasting the very creative effort
of Hridaynath Mangeshkar) and the recent 'Aar Ya Paar'.

Thanks, I have updated the master copy.
This list is intended to be comprehensive and not to be a
value judgement on the films.
Also, i agree with Arnab's comment about this being almost random,
with no clearly identifiable criteria for selection of the directors.
I 'inherited' this list from Amin and Piyush, and added some of
the important directors that were missing. I didn't want to cut
out the ones I thought werent important, rather just build upon
someone else's work.
Any suggestions on how to better organise this list?
